Actually,
it
was Sylmar in
the summer of 2005. JP and
I decided to turn
his 1973 Winnebago Brave into an art car. By the end of August we (with
the help of several friends and family members) had
created a two-story 27' long replica of the SandCrawler - the
vehicle piloted by the Jawas in the first Star Wars movie (subtitled “A
New Hope”). Looking something like a cosmic dump truck, the
cinematic
SandCrawler
lumbered around the desert planet Tatooine,
hauling salvaged junk and the
occasional lost R2D2 droid.
Almost 18 months later the PlayaCrawler finally made it to Burning Man!
